After several nights of fear and sleepless hours, I realized I couldn't continue living with unanswered questions.
I needed proof.
I needed to know whether there was truly someone inside that abandoned building or if my mind had created something that wasn't there.
So I ordered a powerful pair of binoculars, hoping they would finally reveal the truth.
When the package arrived, I waited until nightfall. My hands felt strangely cold as I stood in front of the window once again, looking toward the fifth floor of the forgotten building.
The Image That Changed Everything
I raised the binoculars and slowly focused on the dusty glass.
At first, everything appeared blurry.
Then the window became clearer.
My heart stopped.
There was no person standing behind the glass.
No shadow.
No figure.
The room was completely empty.
But something far more terrifying was waiting for me.
The entire window was covered with thousands of deep scratches carved into the glass from the inside.
A Message Hidden in the Scratches
As I looked closer, the scratches began to form a recognizable shape.
It wasn't random damage.
Someone had created a drawing.
A detailed image of me.
The figure showed me standing at my own window, holding binoculars and staring across the alley.
It was impossible.
The drawing looked as if whoever made it had been watching me for a very long time.
Then I noticed something written underneath the strange picture.
A sentence carved carefully into the glass:
"You should have looked sooner. It's already behind you."
The Last Thing I Heard
My breathing stopped.
For a few seconds, I couldn't move.
My eyes remained fixed on those words, trying to understand how someone could have created a picture of me before I even used the binoculars.
Then something touched the back of my neck.
A freezing breath passed over my skin.
Every instinct inside me screamed to turn around, but my body refused to move.
The apartment was completely silent.
Until a voice whispered softly beside my ear:
"I was waiting for you to notice."
I slowly lowered the binoculars.
And in that moment, I realized the terrifying truth.
The figure I had been searching for across the alley...
Had never been inside that building.
